Women and Girls in Golf

At Maroochy River Golf Club, we’re committed to empowering women and girls to play golf – by creating a safe and friendly environment where women and girls who have chosen golf as a sport are inspired to participate, feel welcomed and nurtured throughout their journey, and are empowered to achieve their goals.

Maroochy River - A Trailblazer in Women’s Golf

In 2024, we were the first Sunshine Coast signatory to the R&A Women in Golf Charter and in 2025, a Women in Golf Sub-Committee was established to action the initiatives of the charter.

Girls into Golf Program

Girls Into Golf (GIG) is an initiative that is designed to introduce women to the game.

Whether just starting out or returning after an absence, the program provides a stepping stone towards the goal of playing competitively.

Twilight Women In Golf Socials

Twilight Women In Golf Socials (TWIGS) sees women of all abilities teeing up for a fun 9 holes of golf on the last Friday of each month. Designed to mix new women members, women on the club’s waiting list and Girls Into Golf (GIG) participants with experienced golfers for a fun, social game of golf.

“…This was a very important progressive step for our Club, which the Board at the time agreed to. I strongly believe that this is an essential avenue to achieve gender equity at all levels and promote increased involvement of women in golf. I am pleased to be a member of the Women in Golf Sub-Committee to continue my passion for this valuable undertaking.”
